The film just plays down the reason why Northcott degenerates into such a malignant devil, and the director seems purposely to touch the matter lightly. The factual causes may shed some light on Northcott’s odd deeds. In effect, he is the son of a father and the father’s own daughter. In other words, his birth is the result of incest of a father and his own daughter. Without much thought, we can deduce the man’s unhappy childhood and the untold misery of whole life.
 
3.2 The weakness of human nature
 
It is acknowledged that everyone all possesses this or that kind of weakness—lust, cruelty, indifference. They always mislead people and even drive them into the evil depth.
 
As the case in point, the police improve the work performance at the cost of the actual public welfare; the phony Walter tells lies and indifferently hurt a desperate mother just for wining the opportunity to see an actor.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
CONCLUSION
 
 
With the outside darkness and inside weakness, the seamy side of humanity, in most cases, trends to gain over the intuitive knowledge. However, if one dose not resist, he or she inclines to set foot on the journey to an evil end, which inevitably leads to a bitterly remorseful life.
